About

An art director is a professional who is responsible for managing the visual aspects of a project, campaign or production. They work across a range of creative industries including advertising, marketing, film, television as well as publishing.

The primary role of an art director is to create and oversee the visual elements of a project including overall design, layout and aesthetic. They work closely with a team of designeRs illustratoRs photographers and other creative professionals to bring their vision to life. Some of the specific responsibilities of an art director involve developing and executing the creative concept for a project, campaign or production,  managing and directing a team of designeRs illustrators as well as other creative professionals, selecting and commissioning photographeRs illustrators and other artists to create visual elements, ensuring that the visual elements are consistent with the project's branding and messaging and to name  a few. 

Eligibility

For Bachelor’s

  • It is necessary for students to clear class 10+2 with at least 60% marks. 
  • Many colleges/universities require clearance of entrance exams like IICD Exam, NSD Screening Test, all India Entrance Examination for Design (AIEED), UCEED, etcetera.  
  • A bachelor’s degree in cinematography such as BA, B.Des or B.Sc in Film Studio, Visual Media, filmmaking or related fields is a great step for students to become an art director. 
  • Candidates can look for a job after successfully completing a graduation degree. 

For Master’s

  • Aspirants can opt for further studies like MA, M.Des, M.Sc in cinematography or any other art related field.
