An astronaut also known as a space explorer is a person well-trained, prepared, and deployed by a human spaceflight program to serve as a commander or a part of a group that is to on board a spacecraft. Having interest and observing every detail of outer space is not enough knowledge for you to become an astronaut. A person needs to possess a special knowledge in this field to know the actual events in detail occurring in space. However, there are two types of astronauts which are, Mission Specialist Astronaut and Pilot Astronaut.

Eligibility

On the basis of Nationality

  • To become an astronaut, one should be a permanent citizen of India. 

On the basis of Gender

  • Both the genders are able to become astronauts and there is no age limit in this field. 

On the basis of Physical & Medical

  • To become an astronaut you need to be physically & mentally healthy. 

On the basis of Educational Qualification

  • Possess a Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD Degree in Aeronautical engineering or STEM field.
