Choreographer

Make your moves count with the right education for aspiring choreographers.

About

A choreographer is a person who creates and designs dance routines or sequences, typically for performances in the fields of ballet, modern dance, jazz or other types of dance. They use their creativity, imagination and knowledge of dance to craft movements that communicate a particular theme or idea. Choreographers work closely with dancers to teach them the steps and movements and ensure their vision for the performance is realised. They may also work with other professionals such as composeRs lighting designers and costume designers to create a cohesive production.

Some choreographers work independently, while dance companies, theatre companies or other performing arts organisations employ others. They may also work freelance, creating dance sequences for music videos, commercials or other productions. In addition to creating new choreography, choreographers may restage existing works such as classical ballets or modern dance pieces. They may also teach dance classes, workshops or master classes, sharing their knowledge and experience with aspiring dancers.
