An Operation Theatre Assistant, also known as an Operating Room Technician is a healthcare professional who is responsible for assisting in surgical procedures. They work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists as well as nurses in order to ensure that the operating room is prepared for surgery and that all necessary equipment is in place.

The primary role of an Operation Theatre Assistant is to ensure that the operating room is clean, organised and well-stocked with surgical instruments, equipment and supplies. They also assist in preparing patients for surgery including helping them to change into surgical gowns as well as positioning them on the operating table.

During surgery, Operation Theatre Assistants assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon and helping to manage the sterile field. They are responsible for monitoring the patient's vital signs and ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly.

Eligibility

For Bachelor’s

  • Candidates must have completed their 10+2 with at least 50% marks in the Science stream.
  • The minimum percentage required for admission may vary from institute to institute. It usually ranges between 50-60%.
  • Some colleges may also conduct entrance exams for admission.

For Master’s

  • Seekers must have completed a Bachelor's degree  or Diploma in Operation Technology.
