Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2024 are designed to ensure that candidates possess the necessary educational qualifications and skills required for teaching in primary (Classes 1-5) and upper primary (Classes 6-8) levels in schools under the Central Government, such as NVS/KVS and other government-aided institutions. The criteria are divided into two categories based on the classes the candidates wish to teach.

1. Educational Qualification for Classes 1-5 (Primary Stage):

Candidates must fulfill one of the following criteria:

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

OR

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

2. Educational Qualification for Classes 6-8 (Elementary Stage):

Candidates must fulfill one of the following criteria:

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

OR

  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) (Special Education).

Note: The above qualifications must be from recognized institutions and the candidates must also fulfill the age limit (if any) and other criteria specified by the respective State Governments/UTs.

Exam Pattern

Application Procedure

Candidates can apply for CTET 2024 by visiting the official website and filling out the online application form between 7th March 2024 to 5th April 2024. To apply for CTET 2024, follow these step-by-step instructions:

  1. Visit the official website www.ctet.nic.in.
  2. Check the eligibility criteria specified in the CTET 2024 notification.
  3. Click on the link provided for CTET 2024 registration. You will be directed to a registration page.
  4. Fill out the online application form with all required details such as personal information, educational qualifications, contact details, etc.
  5. Upload scanned copies of your recent photograph and signature in the specified format. Ensure the images meet the size and format requirements as mentioned in the instructions.
  6. Pay the application fee through the available payment modes (debit card/credit card/net banking or e-challan). The fee details are:
    • For General/OBC candidates: Rs. 1000/- (if applying for either Paper I or Paper II) or Rs. 1200/- (if applying for both papers).
    • For SC/ST/Diff. Abled Person candidates: Rs. 500/- (if applying for either Paper I or Paper II) or Rs. 600/- (if applying for both papers).
