Overview

The Staff Selection Commission Examination is an annual competitive examination conducted by the Government of India for recruitment of Multi Tasking Staff- a General Central Service Group 'C' Non-Gazetted, Group B or Non-Ministerial posts like clerks, DEOs, etc. in various Ministries/ Departments/ Offices of the Government of India, in different States/ Union Territories. The exam is held in multiple stages, including Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III exams. Eligibility

There is a set eligibility criteria for various posts under SSC and you need to fulfil the same. Here are the indicative parameters that make you eligible for the exam: 

  • Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.
  • Age Limit: You must not be less than 18 years and not more than 32 years, as applicable. The age limit, however, is likely to vary as per the exam that you are willing to apply for.
  • Educational Qualification: You must have passed class 12th or possess a bachelor’s degree, as prescribed in the eligibility criteria of specific exams.

The notification for all India-level SSC examinations is released yearly by the commission. Lakhs of applicants apply for these vacancies that makes the competition tough. So, it is important for you to stay updated about every information about the exam in order to plan your preparation strategy and be on time to the examination center.

Application Procedure

The staff selection commission fills various vacancies through the SSC examination for different group posts. To apply for any of those prestigious vacancies, you should apply for the particular job post in a prescribed mode. Follow the below-mentioned steps to register for your desired post through SSC. However, you must be careful while filling up your registration details as the commission can cancel your candidature in case of any incorrect/wrong information provided.

Step 1:  Visit www.ssc.nic.in.

Step 2: Create a one-time user registration number and unique password, if you are applying for the very first time; by providing your basic details including name, parents’ names, contact details, etc.

Step 3: Read and accept the declaration.

Step 4: After logging in, apply for your desired post.

Step 5: Pay the prescribed fee (if you do not fall under the fee exempted category).

Step 6: Save & take a print out of your application form and logout of your account.

Note: Skip the 2nd & 3rd step if you have already created your User ID/password and simply login with your credentials following the further steps.

SSC Exam Syllabus for CGL

CGL Tier 1

English: Error Spotting for SSC, Spellings Correction, Reading Comprehension, Synonyms-Antonyms, One-word Substitution, Sentence Rearrangement, Idioms with their meanings, Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Improvement, Sentence Correction, Active/Passive, etc.

 

Reasoning: Alphabet Test, Venn diagram, Analogy, Missing Number, Distance direction test, Syllogism, Blood Relation, Embedded figures, Classification, Pattern Completion, Cube & Dice, Coding decoding, Figure Series, Mirror Image, etc.

 

Quantitative Aptitude: Average, Time & Work, Boat and Stream, Percentage, Fractions, Ratio & Proportion, Compound & Simple Interest, Square roots, Profit and Loss, LCM & HCF, Pipes & Cistern, Partnership, Basic algebraic identities, Mixture, and Alligation, etc.

SSC CHSL Exam Syllabus

There is 1 CBT in the SSC CHSL exam syllabus. The SSC exam syllabus for CHSL is the same as the Tier 1 CGL syllabus. Both will be conducted by the NRA-CET as per the latest change in the SSC exam. There will be four subjects: English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness and Current Affairs, Reasoning, And Quantitative Aptitude (Mathematics).

Admit Card

The admit cards for various SSC examinations viz. SSC GD, SSC JE, SSC CPO, SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC MTS and SSC Stenographer are now available to download. The hall ticket or admit card will include the details like name of the SSC exam you applied for, your roll number, SSC exam date, reporting time, your basic personal details, exam venue, etc.

You have to follow the below-mentioned steps to download same:

  • Visit the official website of SSC i.e. www.ssc.nic.in 
  • Click on the link saying ‘Admit Card’ on the homepage. A web page consisting links of various SSC websites for different regions, will open. 
  • Select your region.
  • The SSC admit card download link for the different SSC exams will be displayed.
  • Select the link displaying the post name you applied for.
  • Check the check-box if you agree to the examination instructions displayed on the web page and click ‘Submit’.
  • Fill the details in the relevant field as there will be 3 criteria through which you can check your application status or download your admit card and click ‘Search Status’. These 3 are:
